Using a fan or similar device, a fluid is drawn through the leak
detection system or leachate collection system under negative pressure.
By drawing a fluid under negative pressure, at a controlled temperature and with a controlled
moisture content, the detrimental temperature to which the geosynthetic layers are normally exposed is thus reduced, significantly extending their service life and resulting
in hydration/rehydration of the clay component.
The Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) that diffuse through the composite liner are removed by the fluid
continuously passing through the leak detection or leachate collection drainage system, preventing their further diffusion into the environment.
